Comedian Yang Sang-guk is doubling down on marriage—embarking on a bold new challenge.

On the 4th, TV CHOSUN’s variety Joseon's Lovebird will feature the 42-year-old star jumping in himself to search for a future bride. His marriage project isn’t a one-off; it’s reportedly a long-term plan he has been discussing with producers since February, drawing major interest.

In a pre-release clip from Joseon's Lovebird, Yang candidly shared why he decided to get married. He recalled, “When my father was alive, I wanted to marry because of him,” adding, “Watching how well he treated our family made me want to build a family like that, too.” He continued, “In the end, my biggest regret is that I couldn’t introduce a daughter-in-law to my father,” revealing deep longing.

Yang is enjoying a second heyday across variety shows. Through Hangout with Yoo, he was reborn as the “Crown Prince of Gimhae,” and he stirred buzz on You Quiz on the Block by revealing the story behind his nickname.

However, a recent remark on the web variety show Pinggigo—“I’ve never dropped a partner off at home”—sparked controversy, splitting public opinion. Amid the growing backlash, Yang apologized in the comments on his social media: “I’m so sorry for making anyone uncomfortable. I’ll be more careful from now on.” With the issue spreading fast, eyes are on whether he can pull off an image makeover through Joseon's Lovebird.

Yang Sang-guk’s earnest push toward marriage—and his path to change—will unfold on the broadcast at 10 p.m. on the 4th.
