Shocking buzz: Even while serving in the military, actor Song Geon-hee is dominating screens in ENA’s Monday–Tuesday drama scarecrow, instantly grabbing viewers’ attention with a powerful presence.
Premiering on April 20, ENA’s Mon–Tue series scarecrow features Song Geon-hee as Gi-beom, the younger brother of Gi-hwan (Jung Moon-sung) and the boyfriend of Sun-young (Seo Ji-hye). A college student who returns from Seoul to the city of Gangseong to help at his brother’s bookstore, Gi-beom is warm-hearted and fiercely protective of his family and girlfriend. But when a string of murders rocks Gangseong, he’s dragged into the chaos and his life spirals in an unexpected direction.
Episode 4 cranked up the tension as Tae-ju (Park Hae-soo) joined hands with Si-young (Lee Hee-jun) to relaunch the Gangseong serial murder investigation. After learning from Ji-won (Kwak Sun-young) that the culprit’s handkerchief matches Sun-young’s, Tae-ju begins to strongly suspect Gi-beom, Sun-young’s boyfriend. Though Sun-young hides Gi-beom—who’s wanted for assaulting Kyung-ho (Kang Jung-woo)—in her home storage room, he slips away that night, raising even more questions. Sun-young soon comes face-to-face with the real killer and is attacked, and in a shocking twist, Si-young is also stabbed while trying to save her, collapsing on the spot.
With viewers now wondering whether Gi-beom is being framed, online communities and social media are raving: "The vibe is so good," "His face was made for period dramas," "He looks like the first love photo you’d keep in your wallet," and "He’s got that classic first-love oppa energy." The reactions are so hot, it’s easy to forget he’s on a military hiatus.
Meanwhile, the unpredictable and gripping scarecrow airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. KST on ENA, and is also available on Genie TV and TVING.
