Actors Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, and Lim Sung-jae transform into never-before-seen "hapless superpowered misfits," heading straight for global audiences.
On the 6th, Netflix amped up anticipation by unveiling new stills from The WONDERfools.
Set at the turn of the century in 1999, The WONDERfools is a laugh-out-loud comic adventure that follows four lovable but clumsy newbies who suddenly gain superpowers and desperately band together to protect the world from a peace-shattering villain.
In the released photos, Eun Chae-ni (played by Park Eun-bin) floats midair with a bewildered look among fully geared hikers, instantly grabbing attention. Startled by her suddenly triggered teleportation, she hints at the wild, offbeat situations to come. Lee Un-jeong (Cha Eun-woo) wakes up drenched in sweat — he looks like an ordinary civil servant, but behind those flawless visuals, he hides extraordinary abilities and a mysterious aura.
Meanwhile, Son Kyung-hoon (Choi Dae-hoon) clings to the ceiling in sheer terror, teasing the chaos he’ll face thanks to his outlandish "super-stickiness." And Kang Robin (Lim Sung-jae), who gains unbelievable super strength despite his timid nature, swings his fists yet somehow stays endearingly clumsy, promising plenty of laughs.
The arrival of Kim Jeon-bok (Kim Hae-sook), the formidable owner of Big Hand Restaurant, lands with serious weight. Before she was Eun Chae-ni’s grandmother, she was the legendary Myeong-dong loan shark known as "King Jeonbok" — and she’ll face any danger to protect her granddaughter. Also spotted is Ha Won-do (Son Hyun-joo), head of the secretive superpower experiment known as the Wunderkinder Project, visiting Haeseong City with a hidden agenda, dialing the tension up even further.
Breaking away from cookie-cutter superhero formulas, The WONDERfools packs a uniquely crafted world and standout characters — and is set to premiere worldwide on Netflix at 5 p.m. on the 15th.
