The surprise return of actor Song Geon-hee—whose character had previously died in the story—has become a hot topic.

ENA’s Monday–Tuesday drama scarecrow is on a hot streak, breaking its own ratings record. According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 10 of scarecrow, which aired on the 19th, scored a nationwide household rating of 7.9%, ranking No. 1 across all channels in its time slot.

In the episode, Kang Tae-joo (played by Park Hae-soo) cornered Cha Si-young (Lee Hee-joon) to find Yoon Hye-jin’s (Lee Arin) body, pushing their tense psychological warfare to the limit. “Give Hye-jin back,” Tae-joo demanded, relentlessly pressing Si-young, who hit back with a dangerous deal—he would reveal the location of the body when the next murder occurs.

But it was all a trap set by Cha Si-young. After a surprise attack by Park Sang-beom (Gil Eun-sung) left Kang Tae-joo in peril, Si-young put him in a near live-burial situation, sending the tension soaring. His icy line, “Let’s never see each other again,” gave viewers chills in living rooms nationwide.

The verdict in Lim Seok-man’s (Baek Seung-hwan) trial and a truth revealed only after many years added to the lingering emotions. Lim Seok-man was ultimately sentenced to life in prison, and only after 30 years did Lee Ki-hwan (Jung Moon-sung) finally confess—an undeniably bitter resolution.

Most shocking of all was the Episode 11 teaser at the end. Song Geon-hee—who played Lee Ki-beom, previously declared dead—made a surprise appearance that instantly grabbed attention.

Viewers who caught Song Geon-hee in the teaser reacted passionately: “Looks like he’s back as Ki-beom and Sun-young’s son,” “I’m definitely bringing tissues for next week’s broadcast,” and “I teared up the moment his face appeared in the teaser.”

Meanwhile, scarecrow airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. and is also available on Genie TV and TVING.
