TVXQ member and actor Yunho Jung just hit a major turning point in his acting career.
On the 19th, Yunho took home the Series category's 'New Male Actor' trophy at the 24th Directors' Cut Awards, locking in his status as a rising actor. Chosen by film directors' direct votes, he beat out formidable contenders — a clear sign that his daring image transformation and acting chops have won over critics.
In the Disney+ original series Low Life (hereafter 'Low Life'), Yunho played Beol-gu, a man of action who lets his fists do the talking — and delivered a gripping performance. He leaned into a raw, unpolished charm with dialect acting and near bare-faced, natural makeup, visually nailing the character’s rough yet intense personality. Casting off his longtime smart, polished image, Yunho’s fearless commitment left a powerful impression on the public and critics alike, earning rave reviews.
"I learned so much through 'Low Life.' Thanks to the hard work of so many staff members and the director’s phenomenal leadership, I was able to receive such a precious award, and it means a lot to me," Yunho said in gratitude. He added, "I’ll keep acting with all my heart and work tirelessly to become an actor who truly resonates with viewers."
Meanwhile, Yunho is also proving his star power off-screen as a singer. His first-ever solo concert, 'U-KNOW PROJECT 26: NEW CHAPTER 1,' slated for July, sold out the moment tickets opened — cementing him as an irreplaceable all-rounder who excels as both actor and artist.
