Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo’s new K-Drama has finally dropped, cutting through pre-release controversy and concerns to reveal what all the buzz was about.
On the 15th, Netflix released all episodes of its series The WONDERfools to viewers worldwide.
The WONDERfools is a superpowered comic adventure set in the end-of-the-century year 1999, following a group of local misfits who accidentally gain extraordinary abilities and band together to protect their town from a villain threatening peace.
The story tracks Eun Chae-ni (played by Park Eun-bin), Son Kyung-hoon (Choi Dae-hoon), and Kang Ro-bin (Lim Sung-jae), who acquire powers after an unexpected incident, and their mentor Lee Woon-jung (Cha Eun-woo), as they fight to defend Haeseong City. Along the way, each character’s backstory and the relationships they forge kept viewers hooked.
After the full drop, netizens flooded forums with praise like "Killing off the female lead in episode 1 was so fresh," "Cha Eun-woo and Park Eun-bin’s chemistry was way better than expected," "I binged it all night without a single dull moment," and "With this reaction, are we getting season 2?"
In particular, a late-episode stinger showing villain Ha Won-do (Son Hyun-joo) — presumed dead — starting to stir sent expectations for the next season through the roof. You can currently watch the entire run of The WONDERfools on Netflix.
