Actor So Ji Sub is set to headline a hard-hitting revenge action series, promising a shocking, cathartic thrill ride for viewers at home.
On the 22nd, the production team of SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama Manager Kim revealed photos from the script reading, where powerhouse actors gathered and brought fiery passion to the room.
Manager Kim is a full-on revenge action drama that follows the most ordinary dad as he becomes the most dangerous man alive to rescue his kidnapped only daughter, plunging into an unrelenting fight.
So Ji Sub plays Manager Kim, Min-ji’s dad—an employee at a mid-sized savings bank who secretly hides a jaw-dropping past as a former North–South black-ops agent. Even at the script reading, he delivered a layered performance, radiating both the tender warmth of a doting girl-dad and the chilling charisma that erupts when his old instincts awaken.
The tightly cast lineup further boosts immersion. Co-star Choi Dae Hoon takes on the role of Seong Han-su, Tae-hoon’s dad—a former taekwondo gold medalist who now teaches kids at his dojang—showcasing an intensely focused performance. Yoon Kyung Ho appears as Park Jin-cheol, Dab-in’s dad, injecting the drama with energy through his signature flavorful, lifelike acting.
The villains and mysterious figures who anchor this story also stood out. Joo Sang Wook plays Joo Kang-chan, the chairman of Juhak Construction, a cold-blooded tycoon who tries to solve every problem with money and ruthless violence, exuding an untouchable chill. Son Naeun transforms into Sang-ah, Manager Kim’s colleague, emanating an enigmatic aura and multi-faceted charm, while Kim Sung Kyu, as Kang Sung—an elite agent dispatched from North Korea—ratchets up the tension with a weighty, restrained performance.
Led by So Ji Sub alongside Choi Dae Hoon, Yoon Kyung Ho, Joo Sang Wook, Son Naeun, and Kim Sung Kyu—an all-trust, all-star cast poised to spark an all-time action craze—Manager Kim premieres Friday, June 26 at 9:50 p.m. on SBS.
