I.O.I’s new single ‘Suddenly’ is drawing unexpectedly hot reactions.
On the 19th at 6 p.m., I.O.I dropped their third mini album ‘I.O.I : LOOP (아이오아이 : 루프)’, featuring six tracks including the title song ‘Suddenly’. Each member brought the skills they’ve honed on their own back to the group, actively taking part in the production and showcasing even tighter teamwork.
‘Suddenly’ is a synth-pop track that delicately traces those unannounced waves of longing and flashes of memory. When it first came out, it faced backlash for its supposed “ppong vibe” — a trot-flavored retro feel — but the tide is turning.
Fans say the heavier use of Korean lyrics over English, plus that catchy ppong-tinged sound, are the real reasons it sticks. Some also praised the rollout: “The challenges popping up are so on point,” and “It feels like they’re using the ‘Suddenly’ lyrics super well,” read representative comments.

Riding the momentum, I.O.I will hold their solo concert ‘2026 I.O.I Concert Tour: LOOP (2026 아이오아이 콘서트 투어: 루프)’ from the 29th to 31st at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul, opening the curtain on their Asia tour.
