Former MBC announcer–turned–TV personality Kim Dae-ho gets candid about the harsh reality of going freelance and even shocks viewers by confessing his fandom for actress Kyung Soo-jin.

The June 24 episode of MBC variety show Radio Star features Lee Ji-young, Kim Dae-ho, Kyung Soo-jin, and Kim Min-kyung under the theme 'Everyone Is Fighting for Their Convictions.' On the show, Kim lays bare everything from the very real worries he felt after becoming a freelancer to the pressure of staying active on TV.

Explaining why he decided to return to Radio Star, Kim says, "When things aren’t easy, I come out hoping to find a breakthrough." It reveals the complicated headspace of Kim, who has been directly facing the public’s expectations and reactions since announcing his freelance move.

Kim also gets honest about the comments surrounding him. In particular, he addresses constant comparisons to webtoon-artist-turned-celebrity Kian84. At first, he brushed them off, but as the same remarks kept coming up, he admits they started to get under his skin.

He openly shares the vibe he has felt since going freelance. Expecting a big wave to come after his announcement, Kim says things seemed to settle down much faster than he thought. Hearing comments like 'You were better as an announcer' shook him at times. Even so, he draws a line, saying he has never regretted going freelance itself.

Kim also reveals the story behind interviewing to host another network’s program. Before being tapped as MC of MBN’s trot audition show Unknown Legend, he met with the production team to discuss his hosting skills. Kim recalls emphasizing at the time, "I can’t be Kim Sung-joo or Jun Hyun-moo, but as someone who came from an audition program, I understand the contestants’ desperation better."

He then stirs the studio with an unexpected confession toward Kyung Soo-jin. Admitting he once had a serious crush on her, Kim boldly shares his conviction that 'there are no friends between men and women.' When asked if there was any chance the two could grow closer, he quips, "If we get any closer, I might actually fall in love," turning the set upside down.

From the anxieties after going freelance to a thrill-filled confession, Kim Dae-ho’s many-layered story will unfold on Radio Star at 10:30 p.m. today.
