Shocking viral twist at a MAMAMOO concert: BIGBANG’s Daesung and KARA’s Heo Young Ji slammed sudden dating rumors, setting the record straight on camera.
Heo Young Ji appeared on Daesung’s YouTube channel recently. Earlier, Daesung attended a MAMAMOO concert with Heo Young Ji and OH MY GIRL’s Hyojung. After photos of Daesung and Heo Young Ji sitting side by side and looking close spread online, rumors that they were dating exploded across communities.
“I felt like I had to clear this up,” Heo said. “When I went to the salon, they said, ‘Unnie, congrats!’ and my reaction just completely broke,” she shared. Daesung added, “My makeup artist asked, ‘When did you start secretly seeing each other?’” recalling the frenzy after the rumors.
Addressing the photo that sparked it all, Heo explained, “Daesung didn’t seem to know how to turn on the lightstick, so I leaned in to help. That’s when the photo was taken.” She added, “Because it was shot from below, it looked like we were way closer than we actually were.” Daesung nodded, saying, “That’s right.”
KARA’s Kang Ji Young, who joined them, joked, “But the picture really did look like your heads were touching,” amping up the laughs. Heo even reenacted the distance on the spot, stressing, “In reality, we were this far apart.”
Daesung also revealed how the BIGBANG members reacted. “After the articles came out, the two hyungs reached out. Jiyong hyung messaged the group chat first,” he said, referring to G-Dragon. When Taeyang brought it up too, Daesung explained, “We were invited to the concert, and our seats happened to be next to each other. They seated us together because we’re close, that’s all.”
“Youngbae hyung said he wanted to congratulate me, and Jiyong hyung joked, ‘What a pity,’” Daesung laughed, adding that the chat ended right there.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG will celebrate their 20th debut anniversary with a world tour concert series at Goyang Sports Complex from August 21 to 23.
