A cheering video of former South Korean national footballer Lee Dong-gook’s family has landed at the center of a controversy.
In the early hours of the 8th, Lee’s wife, Lee Soo-jin, posted on her Instagram a video of the family watching the 2026 FIFA World Cup match between Argentina and Egypt.
The clip shows Lee watching the game with his son Si-an and daughter Jae-si. When Lionel Messi scored, the daughter shouted, "That’s crazy," while the son yelled, "Hoo!" and cheered.
But the timing—around 3 a.m.—sparked backlash. The kids jumped off the sofa and ran around the living room, and the family’s noisy celebration became the issue.
Some netizens complained that loud shouts and jumping at that hour showed a lack of consideration for neighbors. The video was eventually deleted from Instagram.
Meanwhile, Lee Dong-gook is married to former Miss Korea Lee Soo-jin, and they have one son and four daughters.
