Rapper Swings is making his big-screen debut with Tazza: Beelzebub's Song, and his blink-and-you-miss-it yet intense trailer moment is already going viral.
On the 9th, CJ ENM unveiled the trailer for Tazza: Beelzebub's Song. The crime film follows Jang Tae-young (played by Byun Yo-han), who believed he had it all through an online casino business, and his best friend of the same name, Park Tae-young (played by Noh Jae-won), who stole his life. The two reunite on a global gambling circuit for a high-stakes revenge showdown.
The movie adapts the final chapter of Huh Young-man's Tazza: The High Rollers comic series. It's the first sequel in seven years since Tazza: One Eyed Jack and serves as the grand finale of the live-action franchise. The film is slated for a September release during the Chuseok holiday season.
The trailer quickly maps out the clash between Jang Tae-young and Park Tae-young. It shows how the once inseparable duo became brutal enemies, and how Jang Tae-young, after losing everything, jumps back into the gambling underworld to get revenge.
In particular, Swings blends seamlessly into the film's gritty tone with a buzz cut, a tattoo above his eyebrow, and a dark, weighty gaze. He even throws an opponent over his shoulder in a fight scene, amping up anticipation for his first acting challenge.
His appearance lasts barely a second, but the reaction is on fire. Netizens said, "He looks way more like an actor than I expected," "It was short, but his presence is strong," and "I'm curious about the movie just because of Swings." In this film, Swings uses his legal name, Moon Ji-hoon — a choice interpreted as his determination to show a new side as an actor, which has only fueled more buzz.
The casting process was unusual, too. On SBS variety show uh, but like, seriously!, Swings shared that Byun Yo-han personally contacted him after seeing an acting practice clip he had uploaded to his YouTube channel. At the time, Byun said, "I've been a fan for a long time. I'm not a scammer, so let's meet tonight," and director Choi Guk-hee also joined the meetup. Swings said their discussion about the script and role led directly to his casting.
Meanwhile, Swings has also been cast in the webtoon-based short drama Gwangan Bridge, continuing his steps as an actor.
