As Fin.K.L alum-turned musical star Ock Joo-hyun reignited the years-old ‘Ockjangpan’ controversy, fellow musical actor Kim Ho-young broke his silence on social media with a post saying “Sorry.” But it wasn’t an apology or explanation about the scandal — it was about a product selling out.
On the 14th, Kim wrote on his social media, “Sorry it’s already sold out.” The post explained that an item he had been promoting through a group-buy campaign sold out almost immediately after sales began, and that he had secured additional stock. Kim added, “Thank you again for the overwhelming support,” expressing gratitude to buyers.
The timing drew attention because it came just as Ock publicly revisited the ‘Ockjangpan’ issue from four years ago and urged Kim to clarify his side.
The controversy dates back to 2022, when Kim posted on social media, “The old saying ‘asari-pan’ is out. Now it’s ‘Ockjangpan.’” Many interpreted it as a jab at Ock amid a heated musical casting dispute. Ock sued Kim, then dropped the case after senior industry figures intervened.
Recently, through a fan-communication platform, Ock opened up about the ordeal, saying she had borne deep wounds for four years. She claimed she never received an apology from Kim and added, “My biggest regret is withdrawing the lawsuit.” She continued, “If that post truly wasn’t aimed at me, why did so many people think of me? And why have you never publicly explained the harm and pain that followed?” pressing Kim to state his position. (Note: ‘Ockjangpan’ is a wordplay combining Ock’s surname with ‘jade heating mat,’ used here to imply a chaotic ‘mess.’)
Kim previously claimed the post was meant to promote a friend’s father’s flooring business. Since Ock’s renewed remarks and public challenge, however, he has not issued a separate statement.
Meanwhile, Kim has continued uploading content about his New York trip, personal YouTube videos, and posts promoting home-shopping and group-buy products — while remaining silent on the ‘Ockjangpan’ controversy.
