The Netflix animation K-POP Demon Hunters (hereafter referred to as KDH) has qualified for Academy Awards nomination.

The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced on the 21st (local time) the list of 35 works eligible for nomination in the Best Animated Feature category at the 98th Academy Awards.

Previously released by Netflix, 'KDH' satisfied the Oscar nomination requirements through a limited theatrical release in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco last June.

For the Best Animated Feature category this year, works including 'KDH', Elio, Zootopia 2, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, and Chainsaw Man: Revenge Arc have qualified.

This work created in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation and Korean-Canadian director Maggie Kang tells the story of HuntRix, a K-pop girl group who are exorcists defeating evil spirits and saving the world. Since its release on Netflix, the work has been beloved worldwide, breaking records as the first Netflix content to surpass 300 million cumulative views.

Given its popularity, all eyes are on what achievements 'KDH' will bring at this awards ceremony.

Meanwhile, the 98th Academy Awards, which will officially announce its nominees on January 22 of next year, is set to take place on March 15, 2026.
