Actor Kim Sung-cheol is set to reinvent himself with a bold transformation, aiming for another career-defining role.

On the 2nd, the Disney+ original series Gold Land unveiled still cuts of Woo-gi, the character played by Kim Sung-cheol.

The released stills capture a mysterious figure searching for something at a pawnshop late at night, and a razor-sharp gaze as he points a gun at someone. Woo-gi’s unpredictable aura comes through intact, stoking curiosity.

Kim said, "To heighten the mystery, I tried to reveal as little of his true feelings as possible," adding, "I wanted every look and move toward Hee-joo to feel unreadable. He may seem lighthearted, but I wanted him to be someone who packs a punch."

In the series, Kim takes on the role of Woo-gi, an employee at the loan company Yes Money. Woo-gi is the first to sense the existence of the gold bars connected to Hee-joo, played by Park Bo-young, and approaches her. He acts like a business partner but never shows his hand. He’s the kind of character who could turn his back at any moment, driving the show’s tension.

He gets close to Hee-joo with a breezy, friendly manner, sometimes showing sibling-like chemistry, but at critical moments he flips into an accomplice. Through this multi-layered side, Kim is set to showcase his signature rough, free-spirited charm.

Director Kim Sung-hoon said, "Woo-gi is someone whose desire grows between the opportunity called gold and the person named Hee-joo," explaining, "I thought Kim Sung-cheol’s handsome yet rugged image matched the character perfectly." He added, "He’s prepared extensively for the role," expressing deep trust.

Gold Land is a desire-driven survival thriller about Hee-joo, who gets her hands on 150 billion won worth of smuggled gold bars and fights to claim the prize amid greed and betrayal. Episodes 1 and 2 drop on the 29th, followed by two episodes every week for a total of 10.
