Actors IU and Byeon Woo-seok opened up about the hidden story behind the kiss scene that went viral while filming MBC drama Perfect Crown.
On the 14th, the web variety show Salon Drip featured IU, Byeon Woo-seok, Gong Seung-yeon, and Noh Sang-hyun, the leads of Perfect Crown, where they shared a range of stories. In the video, IU and Byeon vividly recalled what happened while shooting the teaser’s eye-catching "wall kiss" scene.
IU said, "It was extremely hot that day, but on camera the scene had to keep a fluffy, effortless vibe," adding, "I was even wearing a velvet outfit, which made it feel even hotter." Byeon Woo-seok, who was also in a heavy costume, agreed that the shoot was tough from start to finish.
They then drew laughs with an unexpected detail. Byeon revealed, "As our faces got closer, our noses touched, and we were both dewy with sweat," while IU explained, "The sweat that pooled on our noses kept leaving marks on our cheeks, so we had to fix it over and over."
Although the moment looks short on screen, they emphasized that they repeated the take many times for perfection. The two said, "We filmed for a really long time and lost count of how many takes we did."
Meanwhile, Perfect Crown is a romance drama set against a constitutional monarchy, telling the story of a man and woman from vastly different backgrounds. Premiering on the 10th, it started at 7.8% nationwide viewership (Nielsen Korea) and rose to 9.5% by episode 2, signaling strong momentum.
