Shocking leak before release: A portion of BTS’s new album 'Arirang' was posted online ahead of launch, prompting label BigHit Music to pursue legal action.
Billboard reported on the 13th (local time) that BTS’s agency has taken its first step toward suing an anonymous X (Twitter) user who allegedly leaked the track before release.
According to the report, the X account uploaded parts of a new song from BTS’s 5th studio album 'Arirang' in early last month. In response, BigHit Music filed a subpoena request in a U.S. court, seeking to compel X to reveal the account holder’s identity.
Billboard interpreted BigHit Music’s move as a preliminary step for a civil lawsuit against the user in a Korean court.
Meanwhile, BTS officially released 'Arirang' on the 20th of last month and staged a grand comeback show at Gwanghwamun Square. They then kicked off their new 'Arirang' world tour at Goyang Sports Complex, with plans for a massive project spanning 34 cities and 85 shows.
