Shocking comeback alert: the musical that sparked a sold-out frenzy is returning with Golden Child’s Joochan Hong and a powerhouse lineup of veteran actors set to deliver another viral run.
On the 21st, producer HJ Culture Co., Ltd. unveiled the star-studded cast for the musical Niccolò Paganini, returning after two years since its 2024 season. This new run promises deeper emotion and breathtaking performances designed to captivate all five senses.
The show is inspired by a real incident from 1840, right after Paganini’s death, when the Church refused to bury him in a Catholic cemetery due to rumors that he had “sold his soul to the devil.” Following the long, lonely legal battle led by his son Achille to secure his father’s eternal rest, the production spotlights the truth and the isolated life of a genius artist behind the dazzling virtuosity. It delivers a powerful resonance by portraying Paganini’s human side—an artist who never let go of his pure passion for music despite prejudice.
Niccolò Paganini drew explosive attention in 2019 with a complete sell-out at the Daejeon Arts Center and the Sejong Center M Theater in Seoul. After a nationwide tour in 2022 and a 2024 engagement at the National Museum of Korea’s Theater Yong, the show has enjoyed fervent support every season. Now, two years later, the upcoming season blends a strengthened returning cast with fresh new faces to deliver an even more electrifying artistic thrill.
In the role of Niccolò Paganini—the “devil’s violinist” who bewitched audiences with otherworldly performances—KoN, Seokgi Hong, and Joochan Hong share the spotlight. As Lucio Amos, the inquisitor priest who punishes those ensnared by the devil, Kyungsoo Kim, Kyungsoo Kim, and Hyun-ryeol Yoon take the stage, heightening the production’s razor-sharp tension. Each will bring a distinct, definitive interpretation to deepen the show’s gravitas.
Adding more firepower, Junhyuk Lee, Minsu Hwang, Hoon Cho, and Seungjun Lee are cast as Collin Bonner, an ambitious investor and Charlotte’s fiancé. The role of Achille, the son who stakes his life on restoring his father’s honor, will be played by Subin Shin, Seheon Lee, and Juhyeok Park. Aspiring opera singer Charlotte will be portrayed by Juyeon Yoo and Rina Ahn, completing a vibrant ensemble.
Meanwhile, Niccolò Paganini is moving to the Daehangno theater district for a more intimate connection with audiences and will run from June 20 to August 30 at the Hongik University Daehangno Art Center Grand Theater.
