LUCY’s plan to release an official light stick, which had already sparked fan backlash, has been canceled.

On April 22, agency Mystic Story announced via its official social media, "We would like to provide guidance regarding the official light stick revealed today. We have taken the many opinions sent through each channel seriously and humbly, and after internal review, we decided to cancel the project."

The company added, "We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused to everyone who supports us through this process. Once again, we deeply apologize for the discomfort and will work harder to ensure your expectations and love are not in vain."

The members also apologized through the private messaging platform Bubble. Violinist Shin Ye-chan said, "I think I was short-sighted," adding, "From now on, I will think more carefully—again and again."

Bassist Cho Won-sang explained, "When it came to buying a light stick, we just wanted only those who liked it to freely purchase it so the stage could look more unified and beautiful," and continued, "Back when we debuted, Ye-chan and I watched other teams’ performances, and the way fans and artists became one—visually, through lights—looked so cool to us as a culture we build together." He also emphasized, "We don’t consider ourselves idols, and that wasn’t the reason we wanted to make a light stick. Sorry for causing misunderstandings."

Fans reacted, saying, "Your kind apology eased my mind," "Just communicate better from now on," "Company, do your job," and "If you’re going to make one, do it in a paw-print shape."
