Actors Shin Hye-sun and Gong Myung’s new drama is drawing rave reviews from its very first broadcast for its assured direction and breakneck pacing.

Premiering on the 25th, tvN’s new Saturday–Sunday drama Filing for Love ignited a sharp upward trend as episode 2 scored a 6.7% average and 7.7% peak in Seoul metropolitan household ratings, according to Nielsen Korea. Among tvN’s key 20–49 demographic, it also firmly held No. 1 in its time slot across cable and general programming channels, proving its surging popularity.

Filing for Love follows charismatic audit chief Joo In-a (played by Shin Hye-sun), who hides a secret, and ace auditor Noh Gi-jun (played by Gong Myung), who’s abruptly sidelined to police company public morals (PM) violations — an edgy, close-quarters “audit romance.”

In this episode, Noh Gi-jun earned the nickname “Haemu Fainting Guy,” suffering the biggest humiliation of his life. He also launched an investigation into the truth behind an in-house scandal unfolding in Section F of Haemu Group’s underground parking lot. To make matters worse, he unexpectedly began living under the same roof as his ex, Park Ah-jung (Hong Hwa-yeon). Worried that Joo In-a might have witnessed his private moment on the emergency stairs in the past, he was on pins and needles — adding intrigue to the plot.

The tension peaked when Noh Gi-jun, staking out the F-zone parking lot with Joo In-a, came face-to-face with a shocking truth. After running into Managing Director Kim (Kim Jong-tae) — the man he believed was his one lifeline out of the audit office — he even confirmed signs of Kim’s corruption, leaving him crushed and heightening curiosity about what comes next.

Special cameo performances also stood out. Pyo Ye-jin and Shin Hyun-soo appeared as married coworkers Assistant Manager Yeon So-young and Assistant Manager Kwon Hyun-woo, realistically portraying the subtle distance between a couple who keeps things professional at work. Meanwhile, Kim Jong-tae, introduced as a key variable entangled with Gong Myung’s character, added gravitas to the unpredictable storyline with his weighty performance.

Right after the broadcast, online communities and social media were flooded with reactions like “The directing is great and the pace is fast,” “Episode 1 nailed it,” “The writer-director-cast synergy is perfect,” and “Both leads have amazing comedy chops,” praising the cast’s performances and the show.

Meanwhile, Filing for Love airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 p.m. and is also available on TVING and Wavve.
