A new variety show from tvN is already dividing opinion—and it hasn’t even aired yet.

Keomyu Daejeon Ikmyeong Toronhoe is built around a simple but provocative idea: anonymous debate. Participants will engage in discussions through masked identities and chat-based exchanges, with selected representatives stepping forward to present arguments on camera.

Applications are open to users across major online communities, including DC Inside, FM Korea, Instiz, and TheQoo, as well as casual users who typically just observe. By lowering the barrier to entry, the show aims to gather a wide spectrum of voices shaped by different online cultures and perspectives.

That setup is exactly what’s fueling both interest and concern. On one hand, some see it as a timely reflection of how online communities influence real-world discourse—offering a space where diverse opinions can meet head-on. On the other, critics worry it may lean too heavily into conflict, amplifying division rather than fostering understanding.

The anonymity element adds another layer of unpredictability. While it allows for more candid expression, it also raises questions about accountability, tone, and how far participants might go when identity is removed.

With reactions already split, attention is now shifting to execution. Whether the show becomes a meaningful platform—or simply another flashpoint—will ultimately depend on how those conversations are handled.

Applications remain open until April 16.
