Actress Moon Geun Young spoke candidly about her experience undergoing emergency surgery and recovery.

Appearing on the April 22 episode of tvN’s variety show ‘You Quiz on the Block,’ she discussed her diagnosis with acute compartment syndrome, a condition in which pressure builds within muscles and can restrict blood flow, potentially leading to serious complications.

Moon recalled injuring her wrist after slipping on an icy road while preparing for a theater performance. Initially believing it to be minor, she delayed seeking treatment, during which the condition worsened.

At the hospital, further examination led to the diagnosis and an immediate operation. She shared that doctors warned of the possibility of nerve damage and complications if treatment had been delayed further.

Following the procedure, Moon underwent additional surgeries and a lengthy rehabilitation process. She explained that she temporarily lost the ability to use her right hand, affecting daily activities.

She also reflected on the emotional impact, including concerns about whether she would be able to continue acting.

After focusing on recovery, Moon has since returned to the stage through the play ‘Orphans.’
