Singer-actor IU sparked buzz by candidly revealing her first impression of co-star Lee Yeon from the MBC drama Perfect Crown—and admitting she felt real pressure on set.
On the 23rd, IU's YouTube channel featured the leads of Perfect Crown—Byun Woo-seok, Yoo Su-bin, and Lee Yeon—who dished on behind-the-scenes moments and their very first meetings.
Byun Woo-seok praised Yoo Su-bin, who plays his aide in the series. "From the moment we met, I thought, 'Hyun and I are set,'" he said. "Even if I tossed him just a little line, our tiki-taka flowed perfectly." Yoo Su-bin shot back with wit: "Even before we started the drama, I had a feeling I'd be working with him. I thought, 'He's someone I'm going to love,'" drawing laughter.
Lee Yeon recalled being nervous when meeting IU for the first time. "We first met in the director's office, and I was really shaking," Lee said. "IU sunbae brought a ton of snacks for the staff, and when she asked for my number first, I was so happy."
IU surprised everyone with her honest take. "What stands out in my memory is that Yeon came prepared with ad-libs for every scene," she revealed. "I hadn't prepared anything special, and seeing how thorough he was actually made me shrink a little." She added, "I already knew he was a prepared actor, but watching him on set made me think, 'I need to stay sharp,' and I felt that from the first table read."
The mutual praise and trust highlighted their strong teamwork. Fans reacted to the cast's candid banter, saying, "You can feel the on-set vibe from here," and "This explains why the four actors' chemistry is so good."
Meanwhile, Perfect Crown is set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy in Korea and tells a romance that transcends status and fate.
