Shocking confession: Actress Ji Ye-eun directly revealed for the first time that she battled thyroid cancer, drawing intense attention.
In the Netflix variety show Yoo Jae-suk Camp (episodes 1–5), released on the 26th, Yoo Jae-suk leads a camp with Lee Kwang-soo, Byun Woo-seok, and Ji Ye-eun, interacting with participants as they run the program together.
During the show, Ji Ye-eun’s health story came up naturally. While preparing a meal, Yoo Jae-suk said, "I’m relieved it seems like your health has really improved now," to which Ji replied with a smile, "I’m doing so much better now." She continued, "I heard that even a small cancer can metastasize, and it turns out I had more cancer in my body than I expected back then," calmly recounting the situation.
The revelation was even heavier than what had been previously known about her health, shocking those around her. It was once believed to be simple hypothyroidism, but she actually endured a cancer battle. Ji added, "That’s why I feel even more grateful for how I’m doing now," expressing her gratitude for recovery.
At the campfire scene, emotions ran high. When Yoo Jae-suk said, "You went through such a hard time, and I’m grateful we can be together again like this," Ji Ye-eun teared up, and the mood on set turned into a warm wave of support.
Ji Ye-eun paused her activities last year due to health issues. At the time, her agency did not disclose a specific diagnosis, but with this broadcast—where she personally mentioned her battle—public interest and messages of encouragement have been pouring in.
