Mark Lee is preparing to step away from all NCT group activities as his contract with SM Entertainment comes to an end.
On April 3, SM Entertainment confirmed that after extensive discussions, both sides agreed to conclude his exclusive contract effective April 8. With this, Mark will wrap up promotions with both NCT 127 and NCT DREAM.
The agency reflected on his journey, highlighting his decade of work since debuting in 2016 and expressing support for his next chapter.
Following the announcement, Mark shared a handwritten letter addressing fans directly. “I know this may come as a shock,” he wrote, adding that he carries deep gratitude for his time with SM, his members, and fans. He also promised to continue working hard as he moves forward in a new form.
SM also outlined the groups’ future plans, confirming that NCT 127 will continue as seven members, while NCT DREAM will proceed as six.
The news follows earlier fan speculation during NCT DREAM’s recent concert run, where emotional moments on stage led many to question whether changes were coming.
