Singer MC Mong is returning to the stage with his first solo concert in four years. Questions swirled over whether he had actually secured a venue, but the dates have now been finalized, making his comeback official.
On the 21st, MC Mong posted a concert poster on his social media, writing, "Saying hello for the first time in four years. I won't hide amid speculation and misunderstandings." He added, "A singer should prove themselves on stage. I want to meet you with my music," and, "If you want to see me, come. I'll blow away the summer heat. Show me your guts."
According to the released poster, MC Mong will hold his solo concert 'Ice-kkekki' at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on August 14 and 16. This marks his first solo show in about four years since 2022.
Previously, on the 15th, MC Mong personally announced the concert during a live broadcast on social media, saying, "We're finally doing a concert. It's less than a month away," previewing a meetup with fans. However, right after the broadcast, the venue's official website did not list the dates, and Yes24 Live Hall said they had not received related booking inquiries at the time, fueling doubts about whether the show would happen. Some even claimed he had announced unconfirmed dates too early.
Later, Sports Kyunghyang published the venue rental estimate, reporting that MC Mong finalized the schedule on the 16th under the name '2026 MC Mong Concert.' The rental period runs from August 13 to 16 for four days, with the main shows on the 14th and 16th, and stage setup and rehearsals on the 13th and 15th.
As a result, the dates MC Mong mentioned on his live broadcast turned out to be accurate. Ticket sales are set to begin at 8 p.m. on the 24th, with details on the concert structure and guest lineup to be revealed when reservations open.
The show is also drawing attention as MC Mong steps back in front of the public following various controversies and a pause in activities. After releasing a mini album in December 2022, he did not continue full-scale promotions as a singer. He had been producing for Onehundred and Big Planet Made, but in July last year, he announced he would step back from producing due to severe depression and deteriorating health. At the time, he said his body and mind were not well enough to continue music, and he even mentioned plans to study abroad after a new album and concert.
In the meantime, MC Mong communicated with fans through live streams and addressed multiple allegations head-on. He denied accusations of misusing company funds and illegal gambling, and he sparked further controversy by mentioning some entertainment figures by name.
Issues over financial dealings worth around 12 billion won with Onehundred CEO Cha Gawon and a gift controversy reportedly worth around 10 billion won also followed. MBC current affairs program PD Note alleged that money Cha lent to MC Mong was used to pay off gambling debts, but MC Mong countered that he never gambled with company funds.
Despite the controversies, MC Mong has made it clear he intends to face fans through his music and on stage. Attention is now on whether this first solo concert in four years will signal his full-fledged comeback.
