Actors Son Hyun-joo and Lee Jun-young are turning heads with an aura that has viewers buzzing ahead of the premiere.
On the 30th, JTBC’s new Sat-Sun drama Reborn Rookie dropped its first teaser and posters, offering a glimpse of the show’s tone and stakes.
The newly unveiled video and posters spotlight a razor-tense showdown between Hwang Jun-hyeon (played by Lee Jun-young) and Kang Yong-ho (played by Son Hyun-joo). Hwang bristles, saying, "If you’re dead set on fighting to the end and smashing Choeseong, then what?" while Kang declares his ruthless resolve: "If it means protecting Choeseong, I can sacrifice myself a hundred times over." Their clash dominates the screen.
We also meet Kang Bang-geul (played by Lee Joo-myung), who hides that she’s the chairman’s daughter and joins as an intern; Kang Jae-gyeong (Jeon Hye-jin), who stakes her claim with, "Choeseong is mine"; and Kang Jae-seong (Jin Goo), who insists on firstborn succession. The Kang family’s tangled power plays at Choeseong Group set up juicy foreshadowing. In particular, the moment Hwang Jun-hyeon and Kang Bang-geul join forces against siblings Kang Jae-gyeong and Kang Jae-seong raises burning questions: why did Kang Yong-ho’s soul end up in Hwang Jun-hyeon’s body, and how will this twist explode?
Right after the teaser dropped, viewers were sharply divided—some worried it felt "old-fashioned," while others raved that the "acting is insane."
Meanwhile, Reborn Rookie, a second-chance life story about Choeseong Group chairman Kang Yong-ho who gets an unwanted do-over after a sudden accident, premieres on May 30 at 10:40 p.m.
