Short-form content is now a powerhouse for promotion beyond K-dramas — and the musical that went viral with killer Shorts is making a comeback on stage.

On the 7th, production company New Production announced the opening date and full cast lineup for the third season of the musical Western Story.

Western Story exploded in buzz during its previous run with a series of two-minute movie-style clips and slick short-form content that looked straight out of a classic Western, plus high-quality posters. Several shorts topped 1 million views, fueling word of mouth and sellouts even before opening. Fans are now dying to know what fresh, viral-worthy content will pack theaters this season.

Set during the American frontier era, Western Story is a classic comedy musical that captures the essence of cowboy adventures — lawless towns, gunslingers, and sheriffs. The heart of the show is the tangled relationships and razor-sharp humor that unfold as a cast of colorful characters converge at the Diamond Saloon in the middle of the wilds.

This season’s casting: Diamond Saloon owner Jane Johnson will be played by Young-hwa Cho, Chae-won Lee, and Baha Pyo. The gunslinger Billy Hooker, who dreams of becoming the West’s most notorious outlaw, will be portrayed by returning Gyu-won Park and Wook-jin Jung, with newcomer Gi-beom Hong joining the lineup.

Legendary Western hero Wyatt Earp will be played by Do-bin Kim, Won-geun Song, and Ho-seung Choi, while Josephine Marcus will be portrayed by Bo-ra Han, Su-jin Choi, and Da-on Joo. Rounding out the cast, Johnny Ringo will be played by Jong-hwan Won, Sang-yoon Jung, and Ho-joong Choi; Bud by Se-hoon Park and Dong-hee Lee; and Harry by Jun-seok Shin and Eun-ho Shin — a powerhouse ensemble promising explosive laughs.

As the comeback news dropped, netizens reacted: "The show I kept seeing on Reels is finally here," "I’ve been so curious — I have to see it," and "It’s my laugh machine and basically a live 'Gag Concert.'"

Promising to deliver feel-good laughs to beat the daily grind, Western Story will run from July 1 to September 27.
