Singer-actor Lee Ji-hoon has apologized amid backlash over his wife Ayane’s remarks targeting their daughter’s daycare.
On May 9, Lee posted on Instagram, "Our Ru-hee is on a no-salt routine (we don’t even allow dyeing), sorry for being extra."
His comment appeared to reference Ayane’s earlier statements about their "salt-free parenting" approach.
Previously, Ayane reacted with shock after learning their daughter ate candy at daycare, writing on social media that it was "a bit shocking." She added, "Ru-hee is still on no-salt meals, so she only eats plain puffed rice snacks, and we didn’t even give her vitamin candy," explaining, "I found a candy wrapper at daycare, and now she’s realized she can eat it."
Once the remarks spread, some netizens criticized that it’s difficult for daycare staff to follow every single parenting rule set by parents. As comedian Lee Soo-ji’s recent skits about kindergarten teachers and some parents gain traction, others argued, "If you insist on salt-free parenting, you should handle childcare at home yourself."
Lee Ji-hoon and Ayane married in 2021 and have a daughter, Ru-hee. Marking Children’s Day and Parents’ Day recently, they shared that they enjoyed spending time together as a family.
