Shocking turn: Actor Kim Soo-hyun’s team confirmed that a detention warrant has been issued for YouTube channel operator Kim Se-eui of Garo Sero Institute, adding that “all the allegations have been proven false.”
On the 27th, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency GOLDMEDALIST said in an official statement, “We would like to address the multiple criminal complaints and accusations that Mr. Kim Soo-hyun and our company filed against Kim Se-eui of the Garo Sero Institute.”
The agency continued, “As a result of the investigation, the various allegations and so-called evidence raised by the Garo Sero Institute about Mr. Kim Soo-hyun were found to be untrue. In particular, the KakaoTalk messages of the late Kim Sae-ron that were unveiled at a press conference turned out to be fabricated conversations with someone unrelated to Mr. Kim Soo-hyun, and the late star’s voice was confirmed to be AI-generated and manipulated. Accordingly, the court issued a detention warrant for Kim Se-eui, recognizing the seriousness of the case and charges including violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, intimidation, and more.”
Previously, Kim Se-eui was accused of spreading false information via YouTube and other platforms, claiming that Kim Soo-hyun dated the late Kim Sae-ron and that pressure on her to repay debts was the cause of her death. Police concluded that Kim had manipulated “recordings” using AI. Appearing in court, Kim Se-eui denied all charges, arguing that “the detention warrant is based on falsehoods.”
A year ago, at a press conference, Kim Soo-hyun declared, “I won’t ask you to believe me. I will prove it.” One year later, he kept that promise.
The agency added, “We are deeply grateful to the investigative authorities for uncovering the truth based on objective evidence. For the past year, Mr. Kim Soo-hyun has focused solely on keeping that promise. At last, through due legal process and a thorough investigation, the truth has been proven. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who trusted and waited for Mr. Kim Soo-hyun.”
