It has belatedly come to light that singer Lee Moo-jin filed for an injunction to suspend the effect of his exclusive contract with Big Planet Made Entertainment, drawing intense attention.
According to sources in the music and legal communities on the 27th, Lee filed a lawsuit earlier this month asking to halt the effect of his exclusive contract with Big Planet Made Entertainment. Civil Division 50 of the Seoul Central District Court will hold a hearing on Lee’s application for an injunction to suspend the contract’s effect at around 10:50 a.m. today.
Lee’s legal representative stated, "We have not received the settlement payments for Q2–Q4 of last year and Q1 of this year," adding, "Although we notified termination and the matter is effectively over, we filed to obtain the court’s formal ruling."
Lee reportedly notified Big Planet Made Entertainment of his exclusive contract termination in March and filed the injunction request on the 7th of this month.
Meanwhile, a representative for Big Planet Made Entertainment said, "We do not object to suspending the contract’s effect" and noted the company "intends to accept Lee Moo-jin’s claim."
Separately, artists formerly under Big Planet Made Entertainment and its parent company ONE HUNDRED have recently been leaving in quick succession. High-profile singers like Taemin and Lee Seung-gi have already moved agencies, and a court also granted THE BOYZ’s application for an injunction to suspend the effect of their exclusive contract against ONE HUNDRED, causing a stir.
