Nine members of THE BOYZ — Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric — have secured a court ruling granting their request for an injunction to suspend the effect of their exclusive contract with agency Onehundred, effectively opening the door for independent activities.
On the 23rd, the group’s legal representative stated, “The exclusive contract has been lawfully terminated. The court granted the application for an injunction to suspend the contract’s effect.”
According to the ruling, the court determined that the agency failed to fulfill its obligations, including settlement payments and the provision of related documentation. It further found that essential aspects of the contract — such as management support and artist protection — were not properly carried out, leading to an irreparable breakdown of trust between both parties.
A key point of contention, the nature of the signing bonus, was also interpreted in favor of the members. While the agency argued that the total ₩16.5 billion was an advance to be recouped from future earnings, the court ruled it should be considered separate compensation for recruitment. This means previously paid signing amounts cannot substitute the agency’s responsibility to settle earnings.
With the injunction granted, the nine members are now able to proceed with individual activities and future plans without being bound by the contract’s restrictions. The members shared, “Schedules already set are promises to fans, so we will carry them out responsibly,” adding, “We will continue to stand by fans with our best selves.”
Previously, the nine members — excluding New — filed a criminal complaint against CEO Cha Ga-won on suspicion of embezzlement. They had also publicly challenged the agency’s claim that settlements had been completed, escalating the dispute.
Meanwhile, THE BOYZ are scheduled to meet fans at their solo concert ‘INTER-ZECTION,’ taking place from April 24 to 26 at KSPO DOME in Seoul.
