SHINee’s Minho and TVXQ’s Max Changmin sparked a buzz with their ‘voice-only’ live commentary during Korea’s 2026 North and Central America World Cup clash against Mexico.
On the 19th, Minho hosted a live ‘unofficial commentary’ stream with Max Changmin on his YouTube channel for the Korea vs. Mexico match.
Sporting soccer jerseys, the two delivered unexpectedly perfect chemistry and rapid-fire banter that locked in viewers. When Minho teased, “This might sound a bit off if I say it like this,” Changmin shot back, “Then maybe you shouldn’t say it,” cracking everyone up. He added a viral quip about Son Heung-min: “His top speed against Czech Republic was 35 km/h. If he ran through a school zone, the speed camera would catch him,” sending Minho into fits of laughter.
During the match, when Minho cheered, “Heung-min hyung!” Changmin asked, “Is he older than you?” Minho deadpanned, “No. He’s younger, but if you’re better at soccer, you’re hyung,” drawing attention with the witty punchline. (In Korean, “hyung” is how men address an older brother or older male friend.) Minho was born in 1991, while Son Heung-min was born in 1992—one year apart.
Fans loved the duo’s energy, reacting with comments like, “Their tiki-taka is on point,” “Please do more of these commentary streams,” and “Their explanations were actually helpful.”
Meanwhile, in today’s Group A second match of the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, Korea lost to Mexico 0–1. The Korean national team will face South Africa in their third match on the 25th at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico.
