Police have launched an investigation after an online community post threatened to murder the grandmother of esports legend and pro gamer Faker (real name Lee Sang-hyeok).
On May 31, Seoul’s Dobong Police Station said it is tracking down the author of a post that foreshadowed a knife attack on an online community. According to police, around 11 p.m. the previous night, a post reading "I will kill Faker’s grandmother" appeared, followed minutes later by another warning: "I’ll come to Irwon Station at 3 p.m. Women nearby should be careful."
Both posts have reportedly been deleted.
An officer said, "To minimize public anxiety, we’re strengthening preventive patrols and safety measures," adding, "We are tracking the author of the posts."
LoL (League of Legends) fans worldwide have erupted in anger, reacting with comments like "They should be punished to the fullest extent," "This is inhuman," and "T1, do not show leniency." Some also argued, "The community platform itself should face consequences," directly calling out the site where the posts appeared.
