EXO’s Xiumin has had his Japan appearance called off just days before showtime — and his agency says a fraudulent company impersonated them during the contract process, promising a hardline response.
On the 5th, Xiumin’s agency INB100 announced regarding his appearance at the ‘Asia Culture Festival 2026’ that “inappropriate issues were identified during the contracting process,” adding that “after discussions with the organizer, we decided to put the appearance on hold.”
Xiumin had been scheduled to perform on June 9 and 10 at Tokyo Garden Theater for the ‘Asia Culture Festival 2026’. But with only days to go, his name was removed from the lineup, leaving fans puzzled.
According to the agency, the issue arose during booking. In April, the Japanese organizer signed a contract not with INB100 but with a third-party company to secure Xiumin. That company reportedly listed itself on the contract as Xiumin’s agency, misleading the organizer into believing it had exclusive contracting authority.
INB100 stated, “Upon checking with the Japanese organizer, the company in question impersonated the rightsholder despite not being the actual agency,” adding, “We also confirmed they merely lent out a bank account to collect another broker’s commission.”
The organizer then deemed the deal fraudulent and immediately canceled it. As a result, Xiumin’s appearance ultimately became impossible, the agency explained.
INB100 emphasized that “Xiumin himself bears no fault or responsibility in this matter.” The company also stressed that “the event organizer, who believed the agreement was legitimate and prepared the show in good faith, is likewise a victim.”
The agency asked fans to “refrain from indiscriminate speculation and misunderstandings toward the artist and the organizer,” and offered “a sincere apology to the fans who were waiting for Xiumin’s stage.”
Legal action is coming, too. INB100 said it is closely reviewing the facts with legal counsel and “will take strong legal measures without leniency against all individuals involved in the fraudulent conduct.”
Meanwhile, INB100 — home to Xiumin — has already been under the spotlight over exclusive contract and settlement disputes involving Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin (CBX). With the Japan appearance now scrapped as well, fans’ concerns continue to grow.
