Actress Park Bo-young calmly addressed a wave of hostile, election-related comments targeting her, telling fans she’s fine and urging them not to worry.
On June 7, while updating fans on a community platform, Park opened up when the topic of critical comments came up. After a fan messaged, “I hope you don’t get hurt by the malicious comments,” Park replied, “Thanks to you, I gained a lot of strength. Thank you.” She added, “I only found out after seeing the messages,” and called the commenters “strange people,” reassuring fans, “So don’t worry.” Park also noted, “It barely affected me,” showing a composed stance.
Recently, online debate has flared over ballot paper shortages reported at some polling stations during the June 3 local elections. In parts of Seoul’s Songpa District and elsewhere, voters faced long waits due to insufficient ballots, and some regions even saw protests demanding a halt to the count and a revote. Amid this, some netizens flocked to the social media accounts of celebrities including Park Bo-young, singer IU, actor Jo In Sung, and Kwon Yuri, posting demands for their positions on the issue. Comments on Park’s account included, “Why are you saying nothing about this situation?”, “Please speak up on the election problem,” and “Are you being selectively righteous?”
Some observers linked these comments to messages Park sent to fans after last December’s martial law crisis. At the time, Park encouraged fans attending candlelight rallies, saying, “It’s cold, so bundle up before you go,” and, “I hope warm spring comes soon.”
Meanwhile, Park Bo-young recently starred in the Disney+ series Gold Land, released in April, earning praise for her performance.
