Shocking new twist: As singer-actor Lee Seung-gi’s luxury Hannam-dong villa jeonse (lump-sum key money lease) dispute with Cha Ga-won — PIAQ Group chairman and One Hundred CEO — erupts into the spotlight, Cha’s legal team has teased evidence directly countering Lee’s claims.
On June 8, One Hundred’s legal representative, attorney Hyun Dong-yeop, uploaded a video to his YouTube channel — a trailer for a full exposé slated for release on the 11th.
In the clip, Hyun addressed jeonse-related allegations raised by MBC’s current affairs program PD Note, asserting, "This doesn’t look like a jeonse scam — it looks like someone is committing fraud to terminate an exclusive contract." He also revealed parts of messages presumed to have been sent by Lee.
The disclosed messages included, "Thank you for letting me move into the villa, Chairman," "Living together gives me a sense of stability," and "I’ve finally moved in completely." Hyun cited these to argue that Lee was not opposed to the jeonse deal from the start.
Hyun also released messages about the appraisal, featuring lines such as, "Do we not need to worry about a takgam (downward adjustment)?" and "Hope the appraisal goes through smoothly." He pushed back, saying, "People are claiming Lee Seung-gi, Cha Ga-won, and Wando Suhyup were joint perpetrators of a jeonse scam — I have no idea what part of this is a scam." Hyun added that he had forensically extracted data from Cha’s phone, warning, "There’s material explosive enough to upend the entertainment industry. We’ll reveal it one by one, starting with Lee Seung-gi."
The controversy intensified after the June 2 broadcast of PD Note, which examined several allegations surrounding Cha and One Hundred, including the jeonse contract for a high-end villa in Seoul’s Hannam-dong. Lee’s side claimed he moved in at Cha’s recommendation and that, citing the appraisal, the jeonse deposit jumped to more than triple the initial figure. They also stated that a promise to cover the loan interest was not kept.
Cha’s camp has countered that Lee’s team is "misunderstanding the jeonse deposit." The new teaser extends that rebuttal, and tensions are expected to escalate further once the full video drops.
For now, the two sides remain far apart. Key issues — the context of the disclosed messages, the contract process, the appraisal, and whether there was a promise to pay loan interest — require further verification.
At the end of the video, Hyun teased, "Coming June 11 at 7 p.m."
