As rumors swirl around singer-producer MC Mong, a phone call recording between MC Mong and the uncle of Cha Ga-won has been released—sending shockwaves through the industry.
On June 11, former reporter Jin-ho Lee uploaded a video on his YouTube channel featuring a call between MC Mong and a man identified as Mr. A, who is known as the uncle of Cha Ga-won, chairman of the PIAC Group. The clip drew massive attention for seemingly showing MC Mong asking Mr. A to leave him out of media reports and issues related to MBC’s current affairs program PD Note.
According to the released audio, MC Mong asked Mr. A for help, saying things like “I will follow your wishes” and “Please make us allies.” He also pleaded to have his name removed from reports, reportedly saying, “I’m getting married now,” and asking to “stop the PD Note coverage.”
Mr. A reacted with clear displeasure. He pushed back at MC Mong, essentially asking, “Did I come looking for you?” and “Why are you dragging me into fights among your people?”, expressing frustration that he appeared to be unfairly entangled in a power struggle and company issues.
The most explosive part of the recording involved Mr. A’s remarks about alleged fund usage. He pressed MC Mong over money sent by a specific individual, the use of funds reportedly totaling around 120 billion won, and gambling allegations, insisting that “whoever is responsible must be held accountable.” In parts of the call, MC Mong did not immediately refute certain points and was heard replying, “You’re right,” to some of Mr. A’s explanations.
However, the recording alone does not prove whether the alleged fund misuse or gambling actually occurred. So far, these claims remain assertions raised amid a flurry of reports, exposés, and disputes among those involved. MC Mong previously denied any illegal gambling during a personal live broadcast and expressed displeasure that his call with Mr. A was shared externally.
The audio drop comes amid escalating infighting surrounding One Hundred, an entertainment agency where Cha Ga-won is a major shareholder and which MC Mong helped co-found. The company once made headlines for signing stars like Seung-gi Lee, Mu-jin Lee, and EXO-CBX, but later became embroiled in controversies over unpaid settlements, management power struggles, and suspicious fund flows.
In particular, programs like PD Note raised questions about Cha Ga-won’s personal accounts, the movement of large investment sums, and how certain funds were used—pushing the issue beyond an internal agency dispute into a growing legal and social controversy. With the MC Mong–Mr. A call now public, observers are questioning whether there are discrepancies between what the parties claimed and what was actually said.
