Actors So Ji-sub and Joo Sang-wook are already commanding attention with an electrifying first encounter charged with suffocating tension.
On the 15th, the team behind SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama Manager Kim dropped still cuts capturing the two men locked in a brutal standoff.
Based on the hit Naver webtoon of the same name, Manager Kim is a relentless revenge-action series about the world’s most ordinary dad who becomes the most dangerous man alive to find his missing daughter.
In the drama, So Ji-sub plays Manager Kim, who appears to be a regular savings bank employee but is actually a former elite operative who once carried out special missions for the nation—oozing heavy, controlled charisma. Facing off against him, Joo Sang-wook transforms into Joo Kang-chan, a merciless kingmaker who clawed his way up from a bottom-rung hired thug to the chairman of a top construction conglomerate, marking his first-ever villain role.
The newly released stills deal a shock: for the sake of his daughter, Manager Kim drops to his knees before Joo Kang-chan. When Joo Kang-chan’s daughter Joo Hye-ri (played by Yoo Ji-an) pressures Kim Min-ji (Seo Su-min) with the threat of a school violence committee hearing, the father who must protect his child throws away his pride in an instant and begs for leniency.
Meanwhile, Joo Kang-chan looks down with an icy stare, seemingly sneering at the kneeling Manager Kim, freezing the air between them. Viewers are dying to know what blood-soaked catastrophe this desperate choice to protect his daughter will spark between the two.
Anticipation is sky-high for So Ji-sub and Joo Sang-wook’s overwhelming acting showdown. Manager Kim premieres on the 26th at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS and will also be available on Netflix.
