RIIZE member Sungchan is going viral among fans over allegations of an apathetic attitude.
Recently, Sungchan held a video call fansign with overseas fans. These short video call fansigns let idols and fans speak directly for a brief time and have become a major trend among K-pop stars.
Many fans spend significant amounts of money for these moments to show their devotion. But Sungchan is facing heat after complaints about his attitude during the event.
On the 24th, multiple posts on social media and online communities shared accounts from the fansign. According to these posts, one Chinese fan uploaded the full, roughly two-minute video of their call. In it, Sungchan allegedly answered questions half-heartedly and kept checking his appearance. The Chinese fan who did the call wrote, "I asked questions, but he didn't answer and showed no reaction at all."
Some tried to defend him, asking, "Maybe he didn't realize it was a video call?" However, most netizens pushed back: "Paying 20,000 yuan (about 4.5 million KRW) for this kind of call is way too insincere," "If he couldn't understand the fan, he should've at least looked confused," and "If an idol wants plenty of personal time, they shouldn't be an idol."
Meanwhile, RIIZE continues to dominate both in Korea and abroad. After achieving their first million-seller with their 2023 debut single 'Get A Guitar,' the group hit million-seller status again with their 2024 first mini album 'RIIZING' and their 2025 first full album 'ODYSSEY.' With 'II (Two),' they secured a fourth million-selling record, proving unstoppable momentum.
