Choi Yeo-jin and her husband Kim Jae-uk unveiled their newlywed life and the three-story home they completed themselves — and the hot-pink exterior immediately sparked "motel vibes" jokes.
On the June 23 episode of the SBS variety show Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny, the couple returned to mark their first wedding anniversary. From a laid-back surfing date to the grand reveal of the long-awaited new nest, the broadcast delivered one headline after another.
Hand in hand, the couple headed to their new house. Choi said, "Honey, you worked so hard. I still can't believe it. It feels strange every time I walk in and wake up there," sharing her overwhelming emotions.
The place they arrived at was a three-story newlywed home that took a full year to complete. "We finally have our own house," Choi cheered, while Kim shocked everyone by revealing, "It wasn't built by a general contractor — I made it myself."
Explaining the process, Kim said, "Because it is a three-story building, the foundation was crucial. I was involved from the groundworks and even operated the excavator myself. I also did the interior work." Choi beamed with pride, saying, "There isn't a single spot my husband didn't touch."
The home's exterior, painted a bold hot pink, instantly grabbed attention. Seeing it, Seo Jang-hoon commented honestly, "It is pretty, but from far away it kind of looks like a lodging facility." Lee Ji-hye joked, "It has motel vibes. Do they offer hourly rates?" drawing laughs.
Choi also opened up about their thoughts on having a baby while meeting with the couple Park Ha-na and Kim Tae-sul. When Park shared she is currently undergoing IVF treatment, Choi responded, "Life doesn't go as planned," and began telling her own story.
"My husband really loves babies, but I don't feel the same way," Choi admitted. "Still, because he likes them so much, I said we should have a child — but then he told me he didn't want to. He was worried it would be too hard on me."
At the end, Choi addressed the fake-news rumors that caused her distress. "Last year, after we said goodbye to our two dogs, I posted about it, and suddenly stories came out like 'Choi Yeo-jin breakup,' claiming we divorced six months into our marriage," she said. "We also lived in a caravan while the house was under construction, and that got labeled as homelessness — which then snowballed into divorce rumors."
Choi Yeo-jin married sports businessman Kim Jae-uk, who is seven years her senior, in June last year.
