Actor So Ji-sub is making a headline-grabbing return to SBS dramas after 13 years.

At the June 25 press conference for SBS’s new Friday–Saturday drama Manager Kim , cast members including So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, and Yoon Kyung-ho amped up anticipation for the series.

Manager Kim is a high-octane “dad universe” comic action noir about the “most ordinary” father, Manager Kim (played by So Ji-sub), who turns into “the most dangerous” man to rescue his only daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Soo-min).

In the story, So Ji-sub’s character seems like a regular employee at a small savings bank, but he’s actually a former operative who carried out countless special missions — the very man known as Manager Kim.

Explaining why he signed on, So Ji-sub said, “I wanted to do another action drama,” adding, “The backstory of Manager Kim in the script, the emotions of a father raising his daughter alone, and the desperate journey to find her when she goes missing all felt like a challenge I wanted to take.”

Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho play Manager Kim’s longtime friends, Sung Han-soo and Park Jin-cheol, respectively. Joo Sang-wook appears as Joo Kang-chan, a legend who started as a hired enforcer and clawed his way up to become chairman of Juhak Construction, while Son Na-eun portrays Jung Sang-a, an assistant manager at Sangsaeng Savings Bank and Manager Kim’s colleague, rounding out a powerhouse lineup.

Meanwhile, Manager Kim premieres on the 26th.
