On June 29, BIGHIT MUSIC doubled down on a zero-tolerance policy against malicious posts and privacy crimes targeting BTS, vowing aggressive, ongoing legal action in Korea and abroad.
BIGHIT MUSIC disclosed its Q2 2026 legal response update on the fan community platform Weverse, stating, "We are taking continuous legal action against criminal acts such as defamation, insults, sexual harassment, and malicious slander."
The label added, "Through fan reports and our own monitoring system, we collect evidence in real time of malicious posts uploaded to major online communities and social media." Based on this, one user who repeatedly posted baseless falsehoods on online communities was found to have committed insult and defamation by stating false facts and received a suspension of indictment on the condition of completing an educational course.
Lawsuits also moved forward on multiple fronts in Q2. "We continued both regular and rolling complaints against authors of BTS-related malicious posts on domestic communities, music platforms, and overseas social media channels," BIGHIT MUSIC said.
The company stressed it will relentlessly track hate speech that hides behind anonymity and organized fake news. BIGHIT MUSIC warned, "We will take the maximum possible legal measures without any settlement or leniency against all acts that inflict mental distress on our artists."
BIGHIT MUSIC also revealed a court ruling on a crime invading the artist's privacy. Regarding the case previously announced in Q1 involving violations of the Anti-Stalking Act and house trespass, a defendant who broke into an artist's residence and repeatedly stalked them was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years.
Finally, the company emphasized that fan reports are the starting point for legal responses and requested that any unlawful cases infringing on artists' rights be reported through HYBE's Artist Rights Infringement Report website.
