New dad Lee Si-eon turned to veteran parents for brutally honest advice on raising a newborn.
On the 28th, a video dropped on Lee's YouTube channel featuring rapper Nucksal and former MMA fighter–turned–TV personality Kim Dong-hyun. The two passed down their hard-earned parenting lessons to the "rookie dad" Lee.
Lee revealed he has finalized his son's name. When Nucksal asked, "Did you decide on a name?" Lee replied, "We did. It's Sol-min." He added, "The prenatal nickname was Tae-geon, but we went with Sol-min at the naming agency Nucksal recommended."
Explaining the change, Lee said, "We even asked about Tae-geon, but they said there was a high chance it would clash with his mom's fortunes, so we changed it." Nucksal reacted, "You really picked a rare name."
Lee also opened up about parenting and married life. Worried about his wife Seo Ji-seung's postpartum depression, he asked Kim and Nucksal for advice. Lee said, "What exactly is postpartum depression? I heard husbands need to do well so it doesn't happen." Kim responded, "Parenting is 24/7. My wife and I both feel that from pregnancy until the first birthday is the toughest stretch." He continued, "That's when a husband's role is crucial. Be right there with her, and make sure she gets short pockets of time to recharge."
"So it's about giving her room to breathe?" Lee asked, nodding. Kim offered practical tips: "What she wants isn't anything huge. Let her have a room to herself with no one around, scroll on her phone, order something delicious, and sleep."
Nucksal agreed, adding, "Take the kids out for a while." He continued, "Once they're past the first birthday, you'll be pushing a stroller, and the kid starts walking—going out together actually becomes fun."
The rookie dad soaked up the two seniors' advice, learning step by step. With discharge from the postpartum care center just ahead, Lee's earnest prep and clumsy moments for full-on parenting brought laughs and a wave of empathy.
Meanwhile, Lee married actress Seo Ji-seung in 2021 after four years of dating, and they welcomed their son this May.
