Musical actor Han Ji-sang has proven his innocence in the sexual misconduct controversy through a prosecutor's indictment document.
On the 2nd, Han Ji-sang's agency Blue Stage released the prosecutor's indictment, which explicitly states, "Victim Han Ji-sang did not commit a crime and has never been punished for one." The document makes it legally clear that Han was not guilty of the past sex-crime allegations, marking a turning point that frees him from prolonged harassment.
According to the indictment disclosed by prosecutors, defendant A spread posts defaming Han Ji-sang with false claims from November 20, 2020, to September 5, 2024, via social media and tip-off email accounts of major overseas media outlets. As a result, Han suffered major fallout, including boycotts targeting several of his projects. His appointment as a lecturer in the Acting and Arts Department at Sungkyunkwan University was even canceled.
Prosecutors stated they concluded that "the defendant defamed Han Ji-sang by disseminating false information through the information and communications network with the intent to slander, thereby obstructing the actor's performance-related work." They added, "While fines have already been finalized against some malicious commenters over certain false posts, this time we have imposed strict responsibility for additional acts of defamation."
Blue Stage said in an official statement, "Being a public figure does not mean one must endure baseless claims and indiscriminate personal attacks," adding, "We hope this case restores actor Han Ji-sang's reputation and that groundless rumors and online witch hunts no longer repeat."
