As Netflix’s highly anticipated The East Palace nears release, actor Nam Joo-hyuk says he feels a heavy sense of responsibility.

On the 8th, the production presentation for The East Palace featured actors Nam Joo-hyuk, Roh Yoon-seo, Cho Seung-woo, and director Choi Jeong-gyu.

The East Palace drew major attention after appearing in Netflix’s early-year ‘2026 Global Lineup’ video alongside follow-ups to hit titles like Bridgerton Season 4 and Enola Holmes 3. Nam Joo-hyuk was the only Asian actor to appear in the London-shot video, teasing the series’ release.

Nam Joo-hyuk shared, “I went (to London) with the weight of responsibility on my back,” adding, “I was determined to do well on my own and return.” As his first project after completing military service, expectations are sky-high—and the pressure is real. He added, “I thought I could pour my whole self into creating the character Gu-cheon,” recalling, “I was already Gu-cheon even in the military.”

Meanwhile, The East Palace follows Gu-cheon, who can cross into the realm of ghosts, and a court lady named Saenggang, who harbors a secret. After a royal summons, they dig into the curse haunting the Crown Prince’s palace. The series premieres on Netflix on the 17th at 5 p.m.
