Shocking twist: Choi Soo-young is stepping into villain mode in Okay! Madam 2, taking on her first-ever action role in 20 years — and she teased a fresh, scene-stealing charm.

On the morning of the 13th at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul, the production briefing for Okay! Madam 2 was held. Director Lee Cheol-ha and cast members Uhm Jung-hwa, Park Sung-woong, Lee Sang-yoon, Bae Jung-nam, Park Jin-joo, Ryeoun, and Choi Soo-young attended, dialing up anticipation for the film.

Introducing her character Anya, Choi said, "I’ve been active for about 20 years, but this was my first time doing action. That alone felt special, and getting to do it with senior Uhm Jung-hwa made it even more meaningful." Recalling the shoot, she added, "From start to finish, Uhm Jung-hwa does a ton of action. Watching her pull off such a wide range of stunts so flawlessly made me determined not to hold her back." She then laughed and said, "I’m sorry, but I did ask if we could run it one more time."

Choi continued, "She’s incredibly considerate and has a soft spot for me. Thanks to all the care she showed me on set, I was able to film comfortably." She added with a grin, "We fight like we’re out for blood — that’s how much I admire her. It oddly mirrored real situations, which made it even more fun."

Choi’s character Anya is the film’s final boss villain, promising a new kind of female antagonist. "It may feel like there are many female villains, but there actually aren’t that many. I was thrilled when I first got the offer," she shared, opening up about her excitement to collaborate with the director and her process in crafting the character. "I really wanted to avoid making Anya feel predictable, so I pitched a lot of costume ideas to the director as well."

She explained, "A villain who’s just scary and chilling can be cool, but this one acts out of pure fangirl energy, so some of her behavior is playful and childlike." She concluded, "I tried to create a villain with both charisma and humor," revealing her affection for the fresh character.

Okay! Madam 2 follows ex-legendary agent Mi-young (played by Uhm Jung-hwa) and her family as their luxury cruise trip spirals into a hijacking incident. The film hits theaters nationwide on August 12.
