Comedian Jung Sun-hee opened up about everything from the behind-the-scenes of bestie Hong Jin-kyung’s divorce announcement to the touching moments at the wedding of the late Choi Jin-sil’s daughter, Choi Jun-hee.
The July 8 broadcast of MBC variety show Radio Star featured Lee Seong-mi, Jung Sun-hee, Kim Young-hee, and Lee Seon-min in a special titled “Laugh Creator Crew, Ukkeukeu.” On the show, Jung Sun-hee shared why she recently started a YouTube channel and the unexpected twist that followed.
Jung Sun-hee said she prefers a calm, steady daily life over shock value. “I told the production company that I’d be fine with a quiet, comfy channel,” she explained, adding that she wanted YouTube to be a space that moved at her own pace rather than chasing big buzz. But an unforeseen situation arose after launch: her close friend Hong Jin-kyung reached out, saying she wanted to talk about her divorce directly on Jung’s channel.
“Jin-kyung said, ‘I didn’t want divorce to sound like a despairing event—I wanted it to be told like just another chapter of life. Since you know us as a couple, I felt that story could be told with you,’” Jung recalled. “A lot of people watched that content, and it felt like we turned the page well,” she added.
She also touched on how different their personalities are. “Jin-kyung always tells me, ‘You need to unleash your energy,’ but I actually like not being in the intense spotlight,” Jung said with a laugh. “I have about 70,000 subscribers, and I love it.” She joked, “If I ever remarry, I’ll announce it on Hong Jin-kyung’s channel.”
Jung also shared what it was like attending Choi Jun-hee’s wedding. “We all went through such a harsh season,” she said. “Seeing the little kid I’d known since she was young walk down the aisle—it was truly moving.”
Meanwhile, Jung Sun-hee, Lee So-ra, Uhm Jung-hwa, Lee Young-ja, Hong Jin-kyung, and others were well known to have maintained a special friendship with the late Choi Jin-sil.
