Singer Jeong Dong-won made a surprise public appearance while serving in the Marine Corps, looking more poised and commanding than ever.
On July 11, fans posted photos and videos on social media of Jeong hosting the Marine Corps Victory Commemoration event, and they quickly spread across online communities. Currently serving as a Private First Class with the 2nd Marine Division’s Artillery Brigade, Jeong took the stage with a close-cropped haircut, uniform, and the Marines’ signature eight-point cover.
Removing his cover, Jeong introduced himself with crisp military bearing: "Hello. I am Private First Class Jeong Dong-won, your host. Salute! Pilseung!"
His noticeably more solid build drew attention, too. Gone was the youthful look he once showed on TV—his broader shoulders and confident presence stood out. Throughout the program, he spoke clearly and kept a textbook-straight posture even while applauding.
After the event, he posed for commemorative photos with military officials, showing a bright and healthy demeanor.
Born in 2007, Jeong volunteered for the Marine Corps this past February. Despite huge success at a young age, he chose to fulfill his national duty early at 19, drawing praise.
Jeong is scheduled to be discharged on August 22, 2027.
