On March 19, 2026, Cine21 dropped a new post that’s already sparking buzz. Under the theme “Films That Reignite Our Love for Cinema,” three directors revealed the works they consider their life-defining movies.
First, director Yoon Ga-eun highlighted ‘Boyhood,’ ‘Nobody Knows,’ and ‘Mirror’ to reflect her filmmaking philosophy — intimate portraits where time’s passage and human growth quietly hit hard.
Director Lee Jong-pil chose ‘Hwoeori Baram,’ ‘Segyeui Juin,’ and ‘Geukjang-ui Sigan-deul,’ each capturing his distinct vision and deep affection for cinema.
Finally, director Jang Geon-jae introduced ‘Fukushima-ui Béla Tarr,’ ‘Neomu Gidae Haji Mara’ (‘Don’t Expect Too Much’), and ‘Dad’s Film School: Mohsen Makhmalbaf,’ spotlighting the power of movies to teach as they tell stories.
